ADVICE FOR HEALTHY LIVING
The
Herxheimer Reaction
Is it ever good to feel bad? In some cases, yes!
When you start a Holistic approach for an illness, your symptoms might
increase at first, leaving you wondering if you’re really getting
healthier at all. This is called a Herxheimer reaction. This is the
“die-off” effect that many people experience when they dramatically
improve their diet and lifestyles. It is an allergic response to the
toxic by-products produced when the body’s pH is changed for the better.
When this happens, large numbers of dangerous bacteria and yeast organisms
die and leave the body.
During this period, you won’t feel very well, but in reality, you are
responding positively to detoxification. After this initial detoxification
period, you should see significant improvement of your symptoms.
PROBIOTICS
The word biotic from the Greek means
life. So, an anti-biotic is anti life. It kills both good and bad
bacteria.
PRO-BIOTIC means pro-life. It is
good bacteria.
Beneficial bacteria are a group of (primitive)
microorganisms that lack a distinct nuclear membrane and have a cell wall
of unique composition. Beneficial bacteria comprise approximately 90% of
digestive tract bacteria in healthy persons. Various species of beneficial
bacteria as well as various species of potentially detrimental bacteria
populate the colon. The total number of species of bacteria in the colon
is approximately 400. It is estimated that bacteria account for 30% to
50% of the volume of the contents of the colon.
Beneficial bacteria enhance the general health of
the digestive system. It strengthens the Immune system functions of
the Intestines as well as alleviating some of the symptoms of Irritable
Bowel Syndrome. Optimal levels of beneficial bacteria help to treat
urinary tract infections.
What can deplete good bacteria?
|
- Excessive quantities of detrimental bacteria
within the digestive tract push the good bacteria out.
- Chlorine destroys beneficial bacteria.
- Antibiotics destroy the body’s beneficial bacteria
|
|
Although there are many other sources that destroy
good bacteria, these are a few to be aware of.
If you have been on antibiotics, you will need to
make sure you take a good probiotic to rebuild what was just destroyed.
If you have experienced sinus issues, yeast
infections, food cravings or even parasites, take a probiotic. Your
digestive tract will love you for it!
Who should be taking probiotics?
Everyone
should be taking probiotics daily to maintain healthy flora within the
digestive tract.
YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK
“For as
he thinketh in his heart, so is he”
(Proverbs
23:7)
What you do
and say begins with what you think and believe. In the pursuit of perfect
health, it’s important to remember that the mind greatly influences the
body and spirit. The human mind is a complex and wonderful “machine”,
sometimes referred to as the most powerful computer ever built. Like
computers, we can process, store, and share information. And like
computers, the information we put out is only as the data we put in:
Garbage in, garbage out.
In most
cases, the things we say and do begin with what we think. We can choose
which information we accept and allow to become part of our way of
thinking. In fact, we create many of our own problems through negative
thinking, bad decision making, and poor choices. By choosing positive
enriching ideas over negative, damaging ones, we significantly improve our
mental health.
These
choices, both positive and negative, directly influence our bodies and our
spirits; a fact that reinforces the role the mental process plays in our
overall health.
